The 2021 facelift was a meaningful one — the 2.8-litre turbo-diesel was upgraded to produce 150kW and 500Nm (up from 130kW/420Nm on earlier automatics), the transmission received new software for smoother, more responsive shifts, and the 3,500kg braked towing capacity became a class benchmark. On top of that, Toyota Safety Sense was added as standard across the entire HiLux range, including AEB with pedestrian and cyclist detection, adaptive cruise control, and lane departure warning with steering assist.
